party like it's 1929
“She flirted because it was fun to flirt and she refused to be bored chiefly because she wasn’t boring. She was conscious that the things she did were the things she had always wanted to do. She had mostly masculine friends, but youth does not need friends - it needs only crowds…"

Tonight I'm headed back to SF for my 6th trip in as many months. First up is tonight's flapper holiday party, which I'm actually quite excited about. Mostly because the style of the 20s/30s is easily my most favorite, and because it is I had plenty of items on hand at home to make my outfit happen without spending a dime. perfect indeed. 23 skiddooo!!

true

i really do. it's shameful. the contents of my fridge can be stated in a line or two: half lemon, onion, american cheese, string cheese, parmesan cheese (what?), condiments, coconut water, v8, olives. i kid you not. i just made that list by memory, that's how much i need some fucking groceries. but if you think for a second i plan on stepping foot inside a grocery store anywhere near thanksgiving, you must be out of your ever-loving mind.

wild thing
“Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”

excuses shmooses
it had been awhile since i used this one, and it had been awhile since i'd taken a night to just sit with myself, but last night i used it and took that very thing. the fact that my alma mater was playing in the final game wasn't even enough to get me off my couch. yes, i happily watched duke bring it home from the comfort of my shoebox. all...by...myself. (with a sullen fletcher looking on). there were options, but i just couldn't peel myself off the sofa. so it goes. and thanks to a heavy dose of texting, i didn't even feel particularly alone.
